Lovely peaceful and quiet camp at the Conto National Park
where we managed to stay the night without paying, no one there and the office
closed so their loss. Also no crying
babies and no little cars with sliding doors that we have named “whizz bangs”
as they are constantly slamming the doors, very annoying. When we left Conto we
travelled approx. 3kms along a dirt road that cuts across to Karriedale, the
road was so pretty with an overhanging canopy of trees and we even managed to
spot two emus strolling up the middle of the road before running into the bush
when they heard us coming. Today we are heading through Nannup, Bridgetown and
Boyup Brook on our way to a free camp further up the road. We have been told
that there is a really good bakery at Bridgetown so that’s where we are heading
for brunch. Found the bakery and decided
to chill out for an hour or so beside the Blackwood River under the bridge at
Bridgetown. Barry went for a swim and
Joy & I wet our legs to cool off a little. When we arrived at Boyup Brook,
40kms further up the road, there was a beautiful community swimming pool that
charged us $2.50 for a swim and even managed to shower and wash our hair,
bonus. Our camp for tonight is Trigwell Bridge which is very quiet although it
is close to the road, luckily there is next to no traffic, been here for 4
hours and 3 cars have passed. Tomorrow we are heading towards York.
