Beautiful day to hit the road once again and the smell of
the bush as we leave is quite amazing. We
did a sightseeing drive around the wine district and called into a place that
specialises in different kinds of cheeses.
We bought a couple of different flavoured Fettas as well as a nice sharp
cheddar. Denmark is a very pretty spot
and we also thought that Ocean Beach was quite lovely. Denmark CP unfortunately
won’t hold any fond memories except for the river cruise. Lots of potential but absolutely no
enthusiasm from the Managers/Owners to make it really nice. I have left a scathing report on TripAdvisor
so hopefully they will take note and improve things. We are hoping to free camp
for the 10 nights before we are booked into Kalbarri, which is from the 17th
until the 24th which is the day before Easter when we leave and then
head inland. Tonight is going to be Pemberton where we stayed 10 years ago when
we came to WA with Maree, Paul, Mum & Dad.
We have taken the scenic route through Northcliffe and then headed down
to Windy Harbour to have a look around, appropriate name as it was blowing a
gale but very, very pretty. Pemberton camp spot now has “Hosts” who look after
the payments, it now costs $5.50 each to stay a night and over the long weekend
they had 30 vans in there. It must have
been so crowded as the Hosts were telling us that there is spots for 13 and
only one drop toilet, so glad we weren’t anywhere near it then.
