EASTER SATURDAY
Left Rocky Dam around 9.00am after bacon & eggs for
brekkie. A little rain this morning and
quite overcast as we head towards Sandstone and then Leinster before hopefully
Leonora. Arrived at Sandstone and there
were 2 stalls in the Main St, William a Chinese guy selling home made bread,
fruit from his own 2 acre garden, and hard boiled eggs that he boils with green
tea, star anise and soy sauce very tasty.
There was also “Lady Di”, an older woman selling homemade pies and
pasties that she makes for you on the spot in her pie press. Got a pie for Barry’s lunch and he said it
was excellent. There are only 25 people
that live permanently in Sandstone and Lady Di was telling us it is a little
“tense” as everyone doesn’t get along. Morning tea at Peter Denny Lookout where
the rain is starting once again, back on the road and it is raining properly
with wipers on and dull as far as you can see.
Our camp spot for tonight is Station Creek where there are the most
beautiful ghost gums along the dried river bed.
Cooking a roast for dinner tonight and then off to bed early to listen
to the rain on the roof.
Being serenaded by the local birds when we stopped for lunch at Leinster.
Magnificent Ghost Gums at Station Creek Campsite
Eagles by the side of the road, 3 altogether but very hard to capture on camera.
Morning tea at Peter Denny Lookout.
