Not a cloud in the sky and hit the road at 9.15am towards
Kimba for our first stop. Some photos
beside the placard that marks the spot that is supposed to be the ½ way point
across Australia. We parked the cars and caravans at the rest area just as you
arrive into Kimba and walked up to the town centre. Unfortunately as it was
Sunday the only activity in town were the cars at Church and nothing at all was
open. So back we walked via where the
Big Galah is situated and managed to find a bit of a bakery to satisfy the
“munchies”. Next stop Wudinna for a leg
stretch and snack. Quite a bit of toilet
humour going on at the moment as Joy has apparently used their potty to it’s
max – so says Wayne so I am hoping the other travellers on channel 18 can’t
hear us. I have my fingers crossed that there is no one at the Haslam camp and
we have it to ourselves. We are planning
to stay for 2 nights so the boys can get in a bit of fishing and Joy & I
can “Chillax”. Joy is right into the
holiday spirit with a Kahlua & milk for lunch – what a girl. Unfortunately the camp is nowhere near as
nice as I remember it from 10 years ago, quite a few here and there are no
facilities at all, not even rubbish bins.
Barry has called a meeting and we have decided to head out in the
morning towards Smoky Bay to have a look and maybe even to Ceduna, not nice
here and too windy to fish once again.
