Monday 8th February (Haslam –Champagne 66)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KAY

We all hated the camp at Haslam, so we are off again on our merry way towards WA.  Barry surprised me with a beautiful necklace, bracelet and earrings for my birthday this morning, really lovely and quite a surprise, I love them.  I also have a bottle of bubbly and chocolates from Joy & Wayne to help celebrate, very spoilt.  A beautiful day with little wind as we head up towards Smoky Bay to have a look around, then it was on towards Ceduna for a lunch break and a walk around town.  Joy & I found 2 “Booteeks” but no bargains to be had today.  As we were leaving Ceduna, after buying fresh Whiting & Oysters from the roadside Café, Wayne called up with a problem with his fridge not working off his battery.  So it was back into Ceduna to find a battery specialist to buy a new battery.  In the meantime Barry noticed that the light on his sub tank was on so it was off to Nissan for us to get that seen to.  Lucky we weren’t on the Nullabor already or it may have been a different story. During the day Joy has been spoiling me with extra pressies for my birthday, so far I have a peach, and a NEW magazine, not even one from an op shop or a laundry, so happy…….Pulled into a camp spot that I have named Champagne 66 as it was not in my camps book.  Terrific spot with shade and tucked away from the highway, so nice and quiet.  There was a car pull in and the young guy came over to talk to us.  His name was Matt and he was traveling from Tweed Heads to Geraldton and was certainly doing a mega amount of kms in a day.  He ended up talking to us for a couple of hours and we even fed him dinner before he finally headed off.  Nice young guy having his 30th birthday on Saturday.  So a nice Aquarian like me….hahah
