Waited out the rain for a while this morning and hit the
road at 9.20 towards Hyden to go visit Wave Rock. 9.30 and no rain, hopefully we have driven
out of it, fingers crossed. MT at Wave
Rock with a nice walk along the track to Hippos Yawn where we have taken lots
of photos before heading into Hyden to also take photos of the sculptures in
the main street. Then it was a
refuelling and back on the road towards Bremer Bay via Lake Grace, Pingrup,
Ongerup and Jerramungup, OMG I can’t believe the names of the places around
here, they all seem to end with an “up”. Could see the rain coming for miles
and then it hit us near Karlgarin, quite a downpour and as quickly as it
started it was finished and the sun was shining. Stopped for our lunch break at
the lookout overlooking Lake Grace, there is a huge salt lake here and it looks
amazing. After lunch it was back on the road and now heading towards Pingrup.
Wind is still a bit of a pain but other than that the day is beautiful,
currently 34degrees at ¼ to 3. Passing
so many Salt Lakes in this part of WA and also on the side of the road are
Salmon Gums which look stunning. Our camp for tonight is tucked away behind a
derelict Community Hall at Needilup which again is cosy and safe off the
road. Tomorrow we have 140kms to get to
Bremer Bay where we may stay for 4 days.
