Saturday 6th February (Moana – Nuttbush Retreat Camp)

Magnificent morning and on the road at 9.30am minus Maree & Paul and Stuart & Sue, a bit sad as we pulled away and left them all behind as it has been a fun time being with them all.  We all went over to the Deep Blue Café last night for our farewell dinner as well as an early celebration with “fizzy” for my birthday.  Maree & Paul gave me a coffee mug with a picture of Mum on it, I love it and can give Mum a kiss every time I have a cuppa. Stuart & Sue gave me a heap of “scratchies” and I am making myself scratch one a day so I can stretch it out.  I am sure there is a winning ticket in there somewhere, fingers crossed. While we were at Moana we managed to do a bit of “Booteek” shopping which was excellent, managed to nab a few bargains but don’t think we have Sue converted quite yet. Stopped at Port Wakefield for a food break for Wayno then back on the road and veered off the Highway towards Port Broughton for our next stop.  Trying to keep to the “B” roads if we can and travel through some towns that we haven’t seen before like Bute and Ninnes before passing through Port Pirie and up to Port Augusta for a refuel. Port Augusta was very quiet as it’s a Saturday afternoon and there is not a lot of people about.  Our overnight stop is Nuttbush Caravan Park which is situated at the Pandurra Homestead.  Great pool where we all cooled off and then had sausages and mash in the camp kitchen for dinner…..yummy.  While we were sitting there the caretakers (Kevin & Susie), came over for a chat, very interesting couple that have travelled around Australia a lot and had quite a few stories to tell.  Wind is still a little annoying so I hope that abates by tomorrow.
