Have woken to a magnificent sunny day, going to call into
Birchip for an award winning vanilla slice and have a look around where the
McRostie family originally came from.
Morning tea at the Birchip Bakery where everyone that had a vanilla
slice agreed that they are the best they have ever eaten, that’s a big call
seeing that Dad was a pastrycook and did a very nice vanilla slice
himself.. On the road again (Sunraysia
Hwy) towards Ouyen for fuel and a lunch stop before heading towards Murrayville
to stay in the caravan park tonight.
Have arranged to have a roast and use up all of our veggies so we don’t
have to throw them away when we cross the border. Roast Turducken in the camp
oven supplied by Kay & Barry, Roast veggies supplied by Joy & Wayne,
gravy beans & corn supplied by Stuart & Sue. Then to finish off, desert of plum pudding
and custard supplied by Maree & Paul. Yummmmmy. A very pleasant night with us all sitting in
the camp kitchen on a lovely evening. We
even managed a swim in the local swimming pool which is located right next to
the caravan park. We met up with a
German couple that are traveling around in a small motor home. I hurt my foot early in the day and he put
some Voltaren and a bandage on it so feels much better now.
A bit of "Bull" in the Main Street of Birchip
